Show Reports - VW Festival

You know the old saying about not saying anything if you can’t say something positive? Well, we know it in our office and on that basis we can say absolutely loads of things about VW Festival because it is so, so good.

We’ve traditionally kept VW Festival as our final outdoor show of the season and part of this reason is that it’s nice to finish on a high note and every year without fail this mid August show is superb and keeps getting better and better year on year. Why so good? Well, theres a massive variety of cars on display bringing a huge number of visitors but it isn’t just that. It’s the fantastic entertainment with something for absolutely everyone, it’s the superb grounds of Harewood House, it’s the safe, relaxed atmosphere, it’s the only show with a professional presenter hosting it, it’s the sheer effort those involved put into making it a great show, it’s the variety of food and drink outlets, it’s the range and quality of the traders present and so much more besides that make it such a great show. Even if VWs aren’t your thing it’s still a fantastic day out!

Harewood House itself is fantastic. Aside from the house there are gardens, playgrounds, animals including penguins (!!) – but the real attraction is the car bit. Whatever your taste in VWs, watercooled, aircooled, modified, classics, ratlook or fresh out of the showroom standard then you’ll find something to push your buttons. If that wasn’t enough live BMX displays, a graffiti tent where automotive works of art became real, a series of live bands, dog shows and so much more.

As ever at VW Festival, just £3 could see you drive away in a freshly restored classic Beetle. Donated by Herbie Hospital and raffled off at £3 per ticket with all proceeds going to the Cash For Kids charity, one lucky visitor drove away in it on Sunday whilst the charity saw over £21,000 raised during the course of the weekend.

We’ll be back next year for what we think is our 10th year at VW Festival on 10-13 August 2017 and we’d highly recommend it! Theres a selection of photos below but you can find more on our facebook page!
