Show Reports – VW Expo, Stonor Park

After missing 2016’s show at Stonor Park (we all need holidays y’know!) we were back in Oxfordshire for 2017 for what we think is the 35th anniversary of VW Expo, held in the grounds of Stonor Park. And after missing a year, it would be interesting to see what was, and indeed wasn’t new.

And we were rather happy with what we found. Because not much had changed. The show still has a fantastic, relaxed, chilled out atmosphere, a great selection of cars from across the VW ‘scene’ but all to a really high standard whether original classic Beetles, campers or more modern, modified Golfs. We did note the somewhat anachronistic ‘Miss VW’ contest seems to have vanished from the show line up which was really about time but other than that it was the same great show as ever and the Association of British VW Clubs should be very proud of the show. As ever the grounds of Stonor Park made a fantastic backdrop and home for the show and the fact that phone and internet signals are decidedly not present lends the show a suitably traditional sort of charm (Top Tip – bring cash if you want to buy things in 2018!). Overall it was a great weekend and we’ll most certainly be back there in 2018, if you like VW shows then we’d highly recommend it!
