LobsterDiecast 2015 Review

As today is New Years Eve, the traditional way of bidding farewell to the present year is to have a look back over the preceding twelve months and hopefully bask in the warm glow of a year that’s been pretty good all things considered. In 2015 we’ve seen some great models from some of our favourite manufacturers, some incredibly popular new partwork series, we’ve been to some fantastic shows and met a huge number of customers old and new which is always nice!

This year we’ve introduced some new brands to LobsterDiecast.co.uk as well as increased our range on some of our most popular brands and we’ll be doing more of the same in 2016. We’ve also got some exciting new ranges due in 2016 (but more on them next week!). 2015 has seen the continued renaissance of Corgi’s Vanguards range which despite a possible lack of new castings has seen some incredibly popular new releases. Oxford Diecast continue to produce a superb range and is without doubt one of the most popular ranges we supply. We’re pleased that what we have seen for 2016 from Oxford looks even better! After a bit of a quiet spell it’s really good to see new releases from Norev coming through too. We’ve long been fans of Norev’s extensive range of 1:18 and 1:43s given the quality and sensible price so they have been warmly welcomed back onto our shelves. When Cult Scale Models finally got around to delivering one of the most eagerly awaited items of 2015 – the 1:18 Rover P6 – it was very much worth the wait being as one customer said ‘not a model but a work of art’ and it really was. Whilst they aren’t the fastest at getting products from factory to store they really do make some fantastic models.

Show season followed a familiar format. In 2016 one way or another we got rained on at pretty much every show but we still had a great show season. From the CamperJam weekend which provided sunburn and soaking within the space of a couple of hours to the fantastic atmosphere at VW Festival we loved them all and will be back for more in 2016. As much as we loved the outdoor shows though, pick of the year would normally be the NEC Classic Motor Show. With an even better stand this year we really enjoyed it and it would be our highlight of all the car shows we attended were it not for 4L International.

Really, 4L International shouldn’t count though as we were there in a visitor capacity rather than trading. Some people might consider driving a 30 year old Renault van 800 miles (and back) just to go to a car show to be slightly daft but none of those people are here are they? 4L International is a show held in deepest France for classic Renaults with the greatest proportion of those being R4s. And as the LobsterDiecast office van is a 1985 R4 then we just had to go, didn’t we.

And so to 2016. We’ve got a lot planned for 2016 including new ranges, new products and improvements to a few behind the scenes things which will make your customer experience even better! But more about all that next year.

Happy New Year 🙂
